I read this article today… curtesy of Bernie.
I couldn’t help, but laugh reading it. I didn’t have the same beginning or experience, but I did end up coming to the same conclusions.
I’m a total workout junky. I’ve toned it down quite a bit, but sometimes I just like my workouts straight up intense. My first experience with Crossfit was in Torrance at a park. The instructor underestimated my fitness and strength leaving me with a workout that lacked challenge and prevented me from seeing the awesomeness that my friends, Jimmy and Bernie, boasted of Crossfit.
A few months later, I went to Crossfit Culver City. On my first day, I did Angie. I don’t remember the second workout, but it was equally as intense. The third workout for that week was the filthy fifty. In just 3 days of crossfit I was completely blown away, challeneged to no end, and hooked.
I can now say I am religious about Crossfit. My time spent working out has decreased drastically, but my fitness level has improved. I am so much stronger than I ever thought I could be. I can actually do 100 (non-assisted) pull-ups. YAY! I met one of my initial goals :) I can do weights. I had never weights before in my life. I can squat with decent form. Who knew I was capable of that? My kettlebell weight has gone up. I started at 12 kgs and now do 20-24 kgs. To top it all off, I get to workout with others who share the same passion for intense workouts. And, they are all GREAT people. The greatness just keeps on coming…
