Paleo Exercise →
Here’s a cute and simple video of my workout ideology. If you haven’t caught on already, I do Crossfit - a strength and conditioning fitness program that emphasizes varied functional movements.
This isn’t a crossfit video but the general ideology is aligned.
Dogtown Crossfit →
Almost 3 months ago, I discovered my Crossfit instructors/friends from Crossfit Culver City were starting their own gym down the street - Dogtown Crossfit. It was a no-brainer for me. Of course, I would be moving with them to their new location. Here’s a link to the blog. Anyone is more than welcome to come check out the new venue and maybe even get in a workout with me :)
40 Day Paleo Challenge →
At Dogtown Crossfit, we’ll be doing the 40 day Paleo challenge starting today July 6, 2010. I thought it would be fun to document my 40 days on the blog just to keep record of what I’ve been eating for my meals as well as give some my friends an idea of what Paleo meals look like. Veggies, Fruit, Meat, Nuts, and Seeds. Yes, it’s that simple, but Paleo meals aren’t...

When did Veggie = soy-based product?
Lately I’ve been on the hunt for restaurants with yummy vegetable dishes. No, i’m not a vegetarian, vegan, or non-animal-product-only consumer, but I do appreciate the nutritional value and taste of quality vegetables.
Recently a friend suggested we go to the Veggie Grill, an eatery in El Segundo. And I thought, “Hey, that sounds great!” exactly what I was looking for -...

Fundraising and Fitness →
The last month has been intense training at CrossFit for Fight Gone Bad IV, a fundraiser supporting Athletes for a Cure (prostate cancer research) and the Wounded Warriors foundation.
I have to admit I did get a little upset over doing so many shoulder press and push press included workouts, but the hard work has paid off and I did get much stronger and hit various PR’s.
Here are a couple...

Bookworm Status: Check
I love doing research. Career, personal life, random subjects - if I’m the least bit interested - I’ll look it up. While the internet provides all sorts of avenues for research, the nitty gritty information (not to mention most credible sources) is in published and peer-reviewed books, articles, and scientific papers that usually aren’t available free online.
As always, my...

Beliefs and Values Applied to my Workout
I started CrossFit back in September, but I never did much research on it. All I knew was after completing Angie, the Filthy Fifty, and some other nutty workout in the first week alone, I was hooked.
CrossFit is a cult?
Lately, I’ve been checking out other boxes websites and reading articles written about CrossFit, naturally I was bound to do my research sooner or later; It’s who I...

Online Shopping is... DANGEROUS →
Last night my roomie Jess and I decided that we were going to order from the the Forever 21 online site. They have some great deals that were just too tempting to pass up and free shipping if you spend a minimum of $75. We combined our orders to make sure we hit that minimum (reducing unnecessary fees is one thing I’m good at). We were also financially smart. Before we started...
Hermosa Beach 5000 →
I’ve fallen off the racing boat since last year. Here’s a quick and fun race I’m considering.
Bitten by the Travel Bug
I wouldn’t consider myself much of a traveler, but these next 3 months are going to be insane. Looking back on the past 6 months, I don’t think I’ve ever taken so many trips in such a short amount of time. I actually had to start using my calendar. Haha, so that’s what those things are for. I’m finally getting around to traveling to some new places that I really...
Weak Sauce Arms
Yesterday’s crossfit workout was:
For time:
21 Push Presses 75 lbs
21 Push-ups
21 Burpees
400m Run
15 Push Presses 75 lbs
15 Push-ups
15 Burpees
400m Run
9 Push Presses 75 lbs
9 Push-ups
9 Burpees
400m Run
My time:17:52
I scaled my workout to 45lbs and knee push-ups because my arms are weak sauce. I then followed up the workout by playing an hour and a half of dodgeball which...
A sweet yet sad story →
I read this blog today and was so touched. It’s a sweet love story of a father and a son’s relationship during the father’s final years of living.

I read this article today… curtesy of Bernie.
I couldn’t help, but laugh reading it. I didn’t have the same beginning or experience, but I did end up coming to the same conclusions.
I’m a total workout junky. I’ve toned it down quite a bit, but sometimes I just like my workouts straight up intense. My first experience with Crossfit was in Torrance at a park. The...
Dodgeball on the Westside
The Westwood Recreation Center was flooded by the adjacent pool, destroying the newly built gym floors. As a result, the westwood dodgeball league had to change venues and play times. Sadly, I can’t play the remainder of the season games due to conflicting prior arrangements.
But on a good note, I was able to play in the St. Patty’s Day Tournament. My team FOUR, tied for first...

Westwood Dodgeball →
It’s official the new Westwood dodgeball season starts today. I am super excited. I’m looking forward to a new season, where hopefully, I’ll be a better player.
Some of my goals:
- To not play too carelessly, which usually ends with me getting out near the beginning of the game
- To pay attention. I always get hit with a ball when I get distracted by someone’s argument...
Fairy Tales (not for children) →
One of my friend’s has started a bucket list for 2009, which I think is an awesome idea. So far, all her list ideas have been fun, and definitely events and such that I’d like to try out some time.
The latest venture is the adult version of children’s shows such as Little Red Riding Hood and Hamsel and Gretel. These french-derived puppeteer-based shows are famous for their...
15 Facts about me
15 Facts (most people don’t know about me)
Bern tagged me on this awhile ago.
1. I go through these reading phases where I won’t read any books for awhile, and then all of a sudden, I’ll read 10 books in a month.
2. I love being alone in nature - Whether it’s out running on a deserted beach, standing in the middle of a forest, sitting along a riverbank, lying on a snow...

I love this site because it enables me to keep records of my...
The Bar Method →
No, this link is not about alcohol.
The bar method is a workout class that combines techniques used in yoga, pilates, and ballet. The class focuses on isolated muscle contractions. Feel the burn!
I went to my first class with Tam today. I wasn’t sure what to expect. All I could say was, “Tam, I’m not graceful.” I enjoyed the class. Definitely not what I’m used...

The Twilight Series →
It’s been years since I’ve picked up a book and haven’t been able to put it down until I’ve finished reading it from cover to cover. The Twilight Series has not only brought back the excitement I yearn for as I’ve read through novel after novel with unparalleled interest. The book is refreshing. It takes me back to a time when I was young , innocent, and unjaded by...

Newbury Park Turkey Trot →
Build up your Thanksgiving Day appetite by running a Turkey Trot prior to all the festivities. I plan on participating in the Conejo Valley Turkey Trot located in Newbury Park. This is also my way of getting out of peeling potatoes.
The Pasadena Marathon
Super sadness. The pasadena marathon and all its associated races were canceled due to poor air quailty from the fires. Way to put a damper on my Sunday.
I suppose a bike ride to Venice beach would help alleviate some of the disappointment.
Santa to the Sea Half Marathon →
‘Tis the season to be jolly. What better way to celebrate the holiday workout season than with a Santa Half Marathon?
Fight Gone Bad
Yesterday’s crossfit workout was Fight Gone Bad (FGB).
I wanted to (possibly did) cry.
Three rounds of: Wall-ball, 20 pound ball, 10 ft target (Reps) Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds (Reps) Box Jump, 20” box (Reps) Push-press, 75 pounds (Reps) Row (Calories) In this workout, you move consecutively through each of five stations for 1 minute per station. The clock does not reset or stop between...

NOT working out is bad for my budget
So I took a day off working out to give my body a chance to recover from a cold, the stress I put on my body from working out while I was fully sick, and an intense non-stop weekend of activties and late night drinking fests.
What better way to substitute my work out hours than some retail therapy? Yes, I know many of you that know me say - REST! But at that moment, being out and about sounded...
Swim/Run/Bike Coaching →
One of my dodgeball teammates happens to be a triathlon coach (Yay for networking.) If anyone is in need of coaching or just some help with your bike, swim, and/or run technique, check this site out. They also offer some free group training sessions to jump in on.
I’ll be attending a few group training sessions for the swim to focus on improving my stroke technique and speed. Let me know...
Pasadena Racing →
Pasadena has decided to join in on the list of cities with large races. On November 16, 2008, Pasadena will host it’s first marathon, along with the half marathon, 5k (competitive), fun run/walk 5k (non-competitive), and bike tour. I will be running the half marathon.
My first half marathon was the Huntington Beach Surf City Half Marathon, which occurred on a day that happened to...
Check out Your race history →
This website is great for people that participate and/or compete in several races (running - R, triathlon - T). You can look up your’s and other’s race history along with time splits.
Some races aren’t posted. Feel free to help them keep their races up-to-date. Sadness, this reminds me that my Gardena race isn’t posted b/c the timing company messed up and my mudrun from...
What April Means →
You are usually the best at everything … you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic “Type A” personality. You are influential and persuasive. You tend to have a lot of power over people. Generally, you use your powers for good. You excel at solving other people’s problems. Occasionally, you do get a little selfish and persuade...
